Fresno County courthouses

Which courthouse handles which case, from criminal arraignments downtown to traffic, family and juvenile matters.

After a release, the case moves to court, and Fresno County has several courthouses, each handling a different kind of case. Knowing which courthouse applies helps you plan, and we keep co signers informed of every date so nothing is missed.

The Fresno County Superior Court

All of these courthouses are part of the Superior Court of California, County of Fresno. The county seat is the city of Fresno, and the main court locations are clustered downtown, near the county jail. Here is how the major locations break down.

Criminal cases, the downtown courthouse

Felony and misdemeanor criminal matters are generally heard at the main Fresno courthouse downtown at 1100 Van Ness Avenue. This is where most arraignments and criminal hearings take place for adult cases, which makes it the courthouse most bail clients deal with. Read more on our Fresno Superior Court page.

Civil, family, and probate, the B.F. Sisk Courthouse

The B.F. Sisk Courthouse at 1130 O Street handles civil cases, family law, probate, small claims, and self help services. While these are not usually bail matters, families dealing with related legal issues often need to know where to go, so it is worth including.

Traffic and infractions, the M Street Courthouse

Traffic citations and infraction cases are handled at the M Street Courthouse at 2317 Tuolumne Street. Most traffic matters do not involve bail, but a serious traffic offense or a failure to appear can lead to a warrant, which is where we may come in. See our warrant page.

Juvenile cases, the Juvenile Justice Campus

Cases involving minors are heard at the juvenile court on the Juvenile Justice Campus on East American Avenue, where juvenile hall is also located, rather than at the downtown courthouses.

Not sure which court? Once we post a bond, we confirm the court date and location with you, so you always know where and when to appear.

We track the dates that matter

Missing a court date can lead to a bench warrant and put a bond at risk, so we make a point of reminding co signers and defendants of upcoming appearances. Learn how bail bonds work or read about the bail process.
